GAM Party, a local political party which declared in Aceh in July 7th, 2007 did not use struggle symbols. It is confessed that GAM Party’s flag symbol is similar to GAM’s flag, which is there is a crescent with stars, but it does not present the spirit of freedom and struggle. ”We can understand the statement of the former head of Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) Peter Feith whom asked GAM Party must be renamed. We do not want to engage in polemics against ordinary things in diplomacy,” said the speaker of Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) Ibrahim KBS to acehmagazine.com on Thursday (20/12).

The statement from the spokesman of ex-GAM organization related to Feith’s statement after he met indonesia Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta on Wednesday (19/12). He asserted that the name of GAM Party must be chaged as he tought it did not agreed with Indonesia’s constitution. Ibrahim told the use of GAM Party’s name was not be incompatible with MoU Helsinki and we had to take a look at Artikel 6.1 Sub C which stated clearly the settlement of dispute of both parties. ”The disagree of central governments is only their habits of symbol scared is not refusing,” told Ibrahim who has ever taken military training in Tazura Camp, Libya.

Last week, The Prime Minister of Free Aceh Movement (GAM), Malik Mahmud and others met Vice President Jusuf Kalla to discuss about GAM party to be qualified in verification on January 2008. After meeting with Jusuf Kalla the GAM leaders on Saturday (15/12) visited the members of GAM who imprisoned in Cipinang penitentiary class I and II in Jakarta. Besides Malik Mahmud, some GAM leaders also been there, they are Foreign Affairs Minister of GAM, dr Zaini Abdullah, Finance Minister of GAM Muhammad Usman Lampoh AW, Defense Minister of GAM Zakaria Saman, The Head of Aceh Transition Committee Muzakkir Manaf, the former Justice and Human Right Minister of Indonesia Hamid Awaluddin, and the spokesman of KPA Ibrahim KBS etc. (rizal).
